SALT LAKE CITY—UT, The Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation marks a golden milestone in 2025–26: fifty years of bringing the world’s most captivating pianists to Utah audiences. This anniversary season is a tribute to the artistry and vision that have defined the Bachauer legacy, offering four extraordinary concerts that span centuries, continents, and styles.

Laureates from across the Foundation’s history return to the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center to perform masterworks by Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Copland, and contemporary voices like Zhang Zhao. Whether through the intimacy of a Chopin sonata, the sweeping grandeur of Rachmaninoff, or the rhythmic energy of Copland, this season promises music of memory, power, and celebration.

Wynona Yinuo Wang Opens Bachauer’s 50th Anniversary Season on September 26th with “Adrift.”

Bachauer Bronze Medalist and Young Steinway Artist Wynona Yinuo Wang brings her signature intensity to the opening night of the 50th Anniversary Concert Series. Praised for her “arresting left-hand prominence and concentrated intensity” as well as her “commanding sweep, power, and cohesion,” Wang invites listeners into a program charged with emotional depth and artistry. Wang’s program explores dreams, memory, and longing, weaving together Schubert’s monumental “Wanderer” Fantasy, Rachmaninoff’s lyrical flower songs, and Zhang Zhao’s Pi Huang, a contemporary work infused with the drama and color of Peking Opera.

Already a prizewinner at major competitions, including the Concert Artists Guild International Competition, and a Young Steinway Artist, Wang has graced stages from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. Now she brings her artistry back to Salt Lake City, where she recently captivated audiences in Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 2 with the Utah Symphony.

On Friday, November 14, 2025 at 7:30 PM, Bachauer Gold Medalist Arthur Greene  returns to the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

Described by critics as “a profound musician” (The Washington Post) and “a masterful pianist” (The New York Times), his recital includes Chopin’s iconic “Funeral March” Sonata, Liszt’s luminous Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude, and Beethoven’s introspective Sonata No. 31 in A-flat major, Op. 110. Known both for his competition triumphs and his career as a leading pedagogue at the University of Michigan, Greene is celebrated for the depth and sensitivity of his interpretations.

As part of America’s 250th anniversary, Mackenzie Melemed, Bachauer Young Artists laureate and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, presents Keys Across America on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 7:30 PM at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

Praised by Steinway and Sons as a “consummate solo artist,” a “remarkably sensitive chamber musician,” and “a first-class soloist with orchestra.”  Melemed’s program celebrates the richness of American piano music, featuring works by Copland, Ives, Amy Beach, Gottschalk, Rorem, and more. His performance promises to honor both tradition and innovation in American music.

Lukas Geniušas & Anna Geniushene: Duo Brilliance

The 50th Anniversary season concludes on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 7:30 PM with a thrilling two-piano program by husband-and-wife duo Lukas Geniušas (Bachauer Gold Medalist) and Anna Geniushene (Cliburn Silver Medalist).

Their duo has been celebrated for being “a finely balanced and imaginative combination” and a “rare and radiant artistic and romantic partnership.” Together they will perform Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, John Adams’ Hallelujah Junction, and Copland’s El Salón México. Known internationally as electrifying soloists, their combined artistry creates a rare constellation of virtuosity and connection, making their performance one of the most anticipated of the season.
